ArtReach, the theatrical and dramatic arts outreach division of The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, is dedicated to bringing high-quality theater productions and workshops directly to schools and selected venues in order to increase student and family exposure to the arts. Selected with Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana educational standards in mind, our touring programs explore historical events, celebrate cultural heritage, and set the stage for learning. Our productions are performed by professional actors who travel to theaters, schools, and libraries throughout the region. Each 45-50 minute production is designed for presentation in national venues as well as school and community facilities of all kinds. We bring a sound system that is compatible with your system or can stand alone. A question-and-answer period with cast members follows each show.

Aesop's Fables
September 23 - November 12, 2011 •  Grades 3-8  •  STUDY GUIDE
Learn life lessons and important values from Aesop, The Great Fable-Maker, as he brings them to life before your very eyes! Written by and featuring the puppets of nationally renowned Joe Kovacs, Aesop's Fables will delight your audiences with the classic stories The Tortoise and the Hare, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and The Crow and the Pitcher. The Frog Prince
September 23 - November 12, 2011 •  Grades K-4  •  STUDY GUIDE
A pretentious princess, a curious curse, and an awkward amphibian meet in this tale of persistence and dedication. When a young prince is transformed into a frog by a cruel fairy, he is forced to bide his time in the slime of the swamp until "Princess Charming" comes along to save him! Imagine his dismay when the princess who arrives much less than charming! This Frog Prince must stay focused on his task of breaking the spell if he is ever to become human again. The Gift of the Magi

Can a memorable Christmas be made with a dollar and eighty-seven cents? Getting caught up in the commercialism of Christmas, Della and Jim begin to lose sight of the true joy of gift giving and friendship. In this classic tale, based on the short story by O. Henry, we follow the young couple on their selfless journey to make each other's holiday dreams come true. Thematic Connections: Holiday Giving, Literary Classic, Sharing.

The Satchel Paige Story
January 27 - May 31, 2012 •  Grades 3-12  •  STUDY GUIDE
Legend has it that Satchel Paige could throw a ball so fast that it would disappear into thin air before it ever reached the catcher's mitt. Don't believe it? Well the truth about Satchel Paige's life is just as impressive as the legend that surrounds him. Beginning his pro career in the Negro Leagues in 1926, Satchel's amazing athletic ability and natural showmanship created a following of black and white fans for nearly 40 years. The Ugly Duckling
January 27 - May 31, 2012 •  Grades K-4  •  STUDY GUIDE
Based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic story, we follow a poor little swan as he grows up "ugly" in a family of ducks before realizing his full potential. The classic we all grew up with offers a wonderful lesson on overcoming adversity and understanding and accepting each other's differences. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
September 22 - November 11, 2012 •  Grades K-6
Washington Irving's autumnal masterpiece tells of the new schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, his sweetheart Katrina, and the devilishly handsome Brom Bones. Written by award-winning Ohio Playwright, Kathryn Schultz Miller, this clever adaptation, loaded with hearty audience participation, is more funny than scary and comes complete with a Headless Horseman! The Sword in the Stone
September 22 - November 11, 2012 •  Grades K-5
Meet the mysterious and magical Merlin, who helps young Arthur become a fish, a bird, and finally discover the "real magic" he needs to become the rightful King of England. Along the way we meet Kai, Arthur's brother, and a young Guenever who is smitten with Arthur. Audiences help Arthur defeat the dragon and finally pull the sword from the stone. This uplifting story of Arthur inspires young people to see their unique potential and strive to be their best. Thematic Connections: Literature, Self-Esteem, Friendship, Courage, Nature.

Rumpelstiltskin
January 28 - May 31, 2013 •  Grades K-5
Is your name Harry? Or Sam? Or could it be Rumpelstiltskin? Join us as we retell this classic tale of the miller's daughter, her boastful father, a handsome prince, and the ability to spin straw into gold.
